Youth Programs and Activities
Families,
children, and youth are a vital part of our congregation, participating
in the full range of activities offered at CPC: worship, mission, and
fellowship.
Active
children’s choirs and youth bell choirs meet weekly and perform during
Sunday morning worship throughout the school year. These groups also
put on a very popular annual “Plum Pudding Festival” at Christmas,
comprising music of all types and skits.
We
have two youth groups - for grades 5-8 ("The People's Group") and for
grades 9-12 ("The Montreaters") - that meet several times each month for
fellowship, service projects, and study. A yearly highlight for youth
grades 9-college is our church-supported attendance at a Montreat Summer
Youth Conference. CPC also helps younger children attend summer church
camps.
Other activities
throughout the year include children of all ages and their parents.
Outings for movies, hiking, biking, and skating are always popular, with
a church-wide trip to West Virginia for snow-tubing the most popular
outing of all.
Our playground, behind the church, is available for use by all our children, and, on any given day, teems with happy activity.
Presbyterian Women
Women are organized into two active circles (Bethany and
Merry Hearts) and one Home Circle for Bible study, service, and
fellowship. Circle meetings are held every month, except in
July, August, and December. The women support PW at the Presbytery,
Synod, and Churchwide levels. A yearly calendar of activities focuses on
various themes or projects.
CPC Men's Group
Men
participate in various activities each year. One of their most popular
activities is the making of apple butter in the fall as a fund raiser
for projects, such as providing some funding for youth and children to
attend camps and conferences. |
